It didn’t take long for leaks about Venezuela’s newfound love for Turkish delights to emerge. The latest involves the President of the Supreme Court of Venezuela, Maikel Moreno, landing today on a GV (N863MF) at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport. Reports indicate that Moreno’s travel companion is Debora Menicucci. Several questions come to mind, the most important being: how can Moreno afford to travel in such luxury? Who is picking up that bill?
Since Venezuela is known for being a place where secrets are hard to keep, this situation will surely reveal, in due time, who is funding Moreno’s trips, what he is actually doing in Turkey, and why hundreds of thousands of dollars are being wasted on private flights. It is rumored that Moreno acquired a travel agency in Caracas (Toromaima), which landed quite a bit of business from Raúl Gorrín’s companies. Regardless, no legitimate business in Venezuela’s current situation generates enough profit to cover the costs of such extravagant travel.
