Venezuelan Dictator Manipulates Twitter for Propaganda While Disregarding Credibility

Allegedly, Hugo Chávez instructed his ally Andrés Izarra to keep him updated via Twitter (http://twitter.com/HugoChavez_Vzla). At least that’s what the first tweet states (11:00 p.m. on January 8 from the web):

Good afternoon, I am Andrés Izarra, know that the president is receiving a daily summary of all your comments. Greetings
Translation:

Good afternoon, I am Andrés Izarra, know that the president is receiving a daily summary of all your comments. Greetings
This is really laughable; notice that Izarra is meant to be the guy behind TELESUR’s 24/7 propaganda operation, the same fool who admitted that Chávez’s regime aimed to create a communications hegemony based on Antonio Gramsci’s ideals of “freedom and plurality.” What does he think, that his fascist boss is going to regain lost credibility by getting on Twitter? Nonetheless, the list of friends says a lot, watch out—Putin, Piedad Córdoba, Lula… Soon, directly from the jungles of Colombia, the FARC will join in, along with Fidel Castro, Mugabe, and even Lukashenko from Belarus. One could hardly make this stuff up.
