Selling goods and services to the Government of Mexico has become a highly profitable venture for those who secure such contracts, allowing them to enjoy luxurious lifestyles that they proudly showcase on their social media platforms.
This is exemplified by Ricardo Alberto Orrantia Cantú, who recently landed a deal with the Mexican government worth over a billion pesos to supply copies and prints to the state-owned oil company.
Petróleos Mexicanos, led by Octavio Romero Oropeza, awarded a direct contract to the firm Interconecta, part of Grupo Altavista, owned by businessman Ricardo Orrantia Cantú, for providing “printing, photocopying, and scanning services through multifunctional equipment” for a total of 1,256,436,451 pesos (over USD 66 million).
Businessman Orrantia was previously linked to the fraud in the Enciclomedia program during the term of former President Vicente Fox, which apparently has been brushed aside.
Orrantia showcases the lifestyle his businesses afford him on social media.
The businessman boasts ownership of a collectible Porsche, as reported by the Mexican daily EL UNIVERSAL.
“I have had this beauty for years, I’ve only driven it once. It’s a limited-edition Porsche Monoplaza…” Orrantia posts on his social media, accompanied by a picture of the stunning sports car.
In another picture dated from the Bahamas, he is seen on what appears to be the deck of a yacht. The image is captioned with the text: “This lifestyle in this Paradise is paying off. What a great change of life, my God.”
In yet another photo, also from Bahamas, the businessman reflects on his origins in Sinaloa, recalling how as a child he had to travel by bus since 5 in the morning, and he accompanies this message with a picture of a private jet.
