Solar Farm Installation Boosts Electricity Savings for the Municipality
With the launch of the “Cajeme 10M Solar” panel farm in Ciudad Obregón, Mayor Rogelio Diaz Brown Ramsburgh has positioned the Municipality as a leader in renewable energy initiatives across the nation.
This project showcases the collaboration between a municipality and a drinking water agency, marking the beginning of a significant development effort for the region.
“This farm is set to generate approximately 70 percent of the energy required by the Municipal Government, powering public lighting, buildings, courts, public spaces, and more,” he noted during his address.
Over the span of two years, he worked diligently to bring this photovoltaic generation park to fruition…
Similar to other achievements of this administration, this project breaks traditional molds as the city strives towards becoming self-sufficient in energy, he mentioned.
In addition to achieving a 20 percent reduction in energy costs for City Hall, he stated, this clean energy will be produced for 20 years at a price lower than that offered by the Federal Electricity Commission.
To bring this ambitious plan to life, he emphasized the need for a $25 million investment from Zigor Mexico and Latam, along with support from the Derwick company.
