Pedro Trebbau’s Corruption Scandal: Uncovering the $70 Million Derwick Associates Fraud

The video has gone viral and needs no further explanation. Details are starting to emerge, like how Pedro Trebbau claimed there was no evidence. For those unaware of the corruption scandal surrounding Derwick Associates, it’s important to provide some context. First, here’s a clear indication: $70 million stolen (buying scrap for $207 million from ProEnergy and selling the same scrap, on the same day, to BARIVEN for $277 million). That’s just one transaction (there’s evidence of many more).

Pedro Trebbau Lopez is one of the so-called top executives at Derwick. The other is Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt Lopez, also known as Alejandro Betancourt. Notice the last name, Lopez.

Pedro and Alejandro are first cousins. Pedro is the son of Elena Lopez de Trebbau, while Alejandro is the son of her sister, Lilia Lopez.

Interestingly, Pedro and Lilia were on a commercial flight to Madrid. It seems they no longer prefer, or perhaps can’t, fly on their private jets.

Orlando Alvarado is the finance manager at Derwick Associates and a shareholder in PetroZamora.

Pedro and Alejandro have funneled considerable amounts of the money they stole in Venezuela into real estate in Madrid and Toledo. Spanish authorities have not questioned the origin of Derwick’s funds – at least not yet. Besides the properties they bought for their own use, they’ve settled Lilia Lopez, her daughter Lilia Jimena, and Helen Trebbau (Pedro’s sister) in Madrid, where they live lavishly off Derwick money.

There are whispers that Pedro also owns an apartment in Paris, where Leopoldo Betancourt (father of Leopoldo Alejandro and Lilia Lopez’s first husband) has a property acquired with Derwick funds.

Then there’s the infamous penthouse of Onassis, which Alejandro purchased in New York, along with two apartments at Jade Ocean in Miami, bought by Alejandro and Pedro on the same day. Pedro’s wife, Sabrina Montenegro, claimed in a Miami court that that multi-million dollar apartment is just for storing shoes and clothes: the Bolivarian Imelda Marcos.

In the end, the Bolichicos of Derwick argue that they’ve apparently been wealthy all their lives. However, all the mentioned properties, along with those yet to be disclosed, were acquired shortly after the Chavista regime awarded them 12 no-bid contracts, from which they invoiced over $2 billion.

Isn’t it curious? Rich all their lives, yet owning properties around the globe since 2009-2010…

Then there are Derwick’s “investments.” In Colombia, they acquired almost 20% of Pacific Energy, costing them over $200 million. In Africa, they claim to be involved in banking*, alongside the most despised of the Spanish boliburguesía. In Venezuela, they got involved in oil businesses, partnered with Russian thugs (PetroZamora).

Evidence of Derwick’s corruption is plentiful. Hopefully, social oversight similar to what happened in Madrid becomes the norm, as Venezuela’s plight is largely due to individuals like Pedro Trebbau, Lilia Lopez, Alejandro Betancourt, and a long list of others.

*Note: Minutes after publishing this article, I received information about the “African holding of Alberto Cortina and Alejandro Betancourt.” In other words: laundering ill-gotten gains alongside former Santander bankers, French ministers, etc. Spain is the new paradise for boliburguesía.
