“El Pollo” Carvajal, who is being prosecuted for narcoterrorism in the Manhattan court, is working with his lawyers to escape the defendant’s bench, from which he could go straight to a U.S. prison for life, as the charges against him could lead to a life sentence.

Fear seems to have taken hold of what was once one of the most powerful men in the chavista regime, after the presiding judge, Alvin K. Hellerstein, admitted that in the trial of Hugo “El Pollo” Carvajal Barrios, federal prosecutors may present evidence of corruption and violence during the hearings.
Judge Hellerstein signed the order regarding motions in limine that allow for the inclusion of evidence linking Hugo Carvajal to corruption and violence related to drug trafficking in the proceedings.
This evidence moves the case away from a simple drug trafficking charge, as it involves facts that would demonstrate the narcoterrorism he is accused of.
