Critics of Protestors Must Justify Their Silence on Venezuela’s Crisis

Seriously. Force yourself to observe them. Now, to all the flower eaters around (they know who they are), please answer this simple question:

Instead of criticizing those who protest and the opposition leaders who have supported and encouraged these protests, what exactly do you propose?

Let me venture a few guesses:

1- Stay home, pretend Venezuela is like Switzerland, and do nothing, so such violence wouldn’t have occurred.

2- Continue “negotiating” with the regime that orders its security forces to deal with demonstrators as shown in the video.

3- Keep pretending that the regime with which you’re “negotiating”—the same one that has armed paramilitary groups killing and terrorizing protesters with total impunity—is democratic, and therefore dialogue is the way to go.

4- Keep participating in elections because, you know, one day the regime might allow one of your representatives to win.

5- Keep thinking that dialogue with a regime that does the things mentioned above will hand over power to you someday, you know, when you manage to produce a manifesto that magically turns chavistas into opposition voters.

Am I wrong? Looking forward to your responses…
