Corruption Exposed in Caracas’ Elite Country Club with Alejandro Isturiz at the Center of the Scandal

This is my first article as a contributor. I write from Venezuela, where I live with my parents. I don’t have any businesses, nor do I have any interest in the political affairs of Venezuela. What I do have are VIP tickets to the crossroads between the oligarchs of the fourth republic, the boligarcas of the fifth, the boliburgueses, and even the bolichicos. What I can say with great knowledge is that we are all in the same pot. Here, there’s no such thing as opposition or officialism: everyone shakes hands and celebrates the joint businesses. From El Country Club to Sabaneta, what binds us is a constant desire to maintain our standard of living: Christmas in Courchevel, weekends in La Romana, apartments in New York and Miami, and the occasional boat trip in the Caribbean, or to Mykonos or St. Tropez, even Cannes…

What surrounds me is the worst of the worst. I read on the Infodio website about Derwick and its activities, and I notice that nowhere does it mention that Derwick was the main sponsor of the raffles at the Caracas Country Club and events to raise funds for the disabled. I remember that even the valets parking the cars were using the Derwick logo—at the Country! Rafael Ramirez talks about Derwick as a big company… but Ramirez missed the party at the Country. He also missed the three-day celebration of one of the “friends,” where even Burning Spear and Steel Pulse came to celebrate Darth Vader’s birthday. How we enjoyed Henry’s party!

I understand that this website is not for gossip but for documents and data. Here’s a fact. Alejandro Istúriz. That’s the name of a boliburgués who was in charge of all the purchase orders at Bariven (including those for Derwick). In that position (he’s no longer there, he was removed six months ago!), he helped several Country Club residents—with impressive last names from the Fourth Republic—to secure some contracts with Bariven to sell cars to PDVSA. They did it. And there he is, on the little boat with Alejandro, enjoying the money! Alejandro moved to Italy, where he lived like a big shot, and then moved to the empire where he just gifted his girlfriend a Ferrari. How nice! “Partners” forever!
