Virginia Rivero, spouse of Argentine lawyer Germán Darío Giuliani, who was detained in Venezuela on May 21 for drug trafficking, recently stated that he traveled “at the end of April” to open a bar in Barcelona, Anzoátegui. Nevertheless, social media posts contradict this timeline: Giuliani shared a TikTok video on April 7 from the Hotel Meliá Caracas, which was confirmed on Instagram with a photo on April 12.
Rivero claims that her husband—specializing in criminal and labor law—was assisting clients in opening bars in Brazil and Venezuela. Experts dispute this reasoning, arguing that such tasks typically fall under commercial lawyers’ duties, not his areas of expertise. Moreover, Giuliani entered Venezuela without a return ticket, a practice that violates Venezuelan immigration protocols.
His public life presents another inconsistency: although he promotes his sailing passion at the San Isidro Nautical Club, his family appears to have no ties to this activity. Rivero barely touched on the subject during her interview, suggesting a suspicious disconnect.
The case presents critical gaps:
– 15 days without activity on social media (from March 20 to April 6), coinciding with his alleged trip to Brazil (which is undocumented).
– 20 days of silence following his last post (May 3) until his arrest.
