B2Gold’s Philippines Security Incidents Reveal Alarming Patterns of Violence and Negligence

You begin to detect a trend.

June 25, 2014:

On the evening of June 19, 2014, a security supervisor performing his routine duties became involved in an altercation with another security employee, resulting in the tragic shooting of the supervisor.

Today:

B2Gold Corp. regrets to announce the fatal shooting of two security guards at the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) operation in the Philippines.

This incident took place in the early hours of February 11, 2015 (Philippine time). The two guards, employees of Kublai Khan Security Services (KKSS), a contractor for MGP, were discovered fatally shot at their guard post.

The Philippine National Police is currently investigating the incident.

This sort of makes you think there’s more to it than what’s being reported in the press releases.

(Yes, this is a tribute post.)
