Venezuelan Regime Expands Corruption List: Key Officials and Business Leaders Linked to PDVSA Under Investigation

The Venezuelan political landscape has been shaken in recent days as the regime intensifies its search for corrupt officials. The Anti-Corruption National Police (PNA) is on the case, with regime leader Nicolás Maduro at the helm.

In the past week, news has emerged regarding the detention of several Chavista officials. However, the resignation of heavyweight Tareck El Aissami, who previously led PDVSA, indicates that the situation is indeed turbulent for the members of Maduro’s inner circle.

Unofficial information has revealed that high-ranking officials are anxious as more heads could roll.

The Public Ministry (MP) is collaborating with a PNA request to prosecute several individuals who “held positions” within public institutions and are reportedly involved in “serious cases of administrative corruption and embezzlement.”

It is known that at least 10 million barrels of oil disappeared at the end of 2022, meant for sale on the black market and other schemes within PDVSA. This amount of containers corresponds to around $5 billion in stolen funds, equating to half of Venezuela’s current international reserves, valued at $10 billion.

Here are the individuals arrested for their involvement in corrupt acts:

-Alejandro Arroyo
-Luis Nahin
-Alejandro Londoño
-Daniel David Uzcátegui Specht
-Rogers Ramírez Donante
-Juan Manuel Alfonso López (Los Morochos)
-Manuel Enrique Meneses
-Rafael Guillermo Perdomo
-Kristhofer Argenis Barrios Vivas
-Roger Perdomo Rodríguez
-Bernardo Arosio

In addition to this list, the regime is reportedly looking for alias “El Gordo” Méndez and “bolichico” Francisco Convit Guruceaga; both are on the run. The number of detainees could rise, potentially uncovering a massive corruption scheme involving high-ranking officials and businessmen.
