On Thursday, May 23, Marcelo Henríquez, the manager of Avior Airlines, was arrested in the U.S. by Miami Dade police. This information was reported by journalist Francisco “Pancho” Tosta, who shared a video of the incident and noted that officers arrived at the airline’s offices with an arrest warrant for the manager, who, according to the reporter, has links to the Venezuelan TSJ.
“Marcelo Henríquez had been prominent in the new administration of the airline led by its new owner, Captain Jorge Añez, and President Dr. Juan Bracamonte. This news has sent shockwaves through the aviation industry. We will continue to investigate to keep our readers updated. Marcelo Henríquez will provide his account either personally or through his attorney,” the journalist stated.
As of now, the real reasons for the arrest remain unknown.
The arrest comes after the U.S. recently banned flights to and from Venezuela, a route that was operated by Avior Airlines.
