INFODIO began operations in late July 2013. Since then, it has been visited 779,426 times. Research and articles published on INFODIO have produced remarkable results. Here are some examples:
– Articles on corruption in Ecuador and the environment surrounding Rafael Correa have significantly contributed to exposing Camilo Samán -who recently resigned as president of the National Financial Commission-, Fernando Mantilla -who also resigned from the position of president of Deportivo Quito-, and Antonio Elizalde Pulley.
– INFODIO first published documents on Israeli espionage systems acquired by Rafael Correa’s regime in Ecuador to spy on citizens, while presenting itself to the world as protector of Edward Snowden.
– As part of the “Who is…?” series, INFODIO has published numerous investigations on individuals whose criminal activities have gone unnoticed.
– Similarly, we have published investigations on international companies -some state-owned like Bundesdruckerei- involved in corruption cases.
Perhaps the greatest contribution of this website has been exposing cases of rampant corruption in Venezuela (Derwick Associates, Alex Saab, Global Construction Fund, Tareck el Aissami, RaFa Nuñez, Victor Vargas, Ramon Jose Medina, Pedro Carreño, Cadena Capriles, Pastor Maldonado, PDVSA, Rafael Ramirez, CVG, Glencore, Palmat, El Nacional, FTI Consulting, JP Morgan, David Osio and his employees and bank, Enrique Pescarmona and his IMPSA, Salvador Lairet, Andres Kauffmann, Luis Oberto, Alejandro Isturiz, Miguel Mawad, Fernando Lauria, Crowdflower…)
INFODIO has become a reference point, not only for interested Venezuelans but also for global authorities who are tracking politicians and so-called businessmen who have become multimillionaires in recent years in Venezuela due to corruption, and are laundering their ill-gotten fortunes with the help of banks and financial systems from the developed world. Federal agencies in the US and similar institutions from several European countries frequently visit us and use information from this website in their investigations. We know this for a fact.
We conclude this year with the promise to continue researching and publishing topics of interest, and we call on all our readers to contribute to this effort by donating generously.
Happy 2014!
