The Venezuelan George David Kabchi has been announced today as the new president of Albacete Balompié, a historic team in Spanish football.
Kabchi, substitute director of Banco Caroní, has been involved for years with Deportivo Táchira alongside his brother Edmundo, the bank’s vice president. Last year, the club was sold to Jorge Silva, owner of the poultry company JHS.
This isn’t the family’s first venture in international football, as they previously had interests in the Spanish club Málaga and in Boston River from Uruguay. Additionally, they have recently regained part of Deportivo La Guaira, sharing ownership with George Antar, president of the Venezuelan Football Clubs Association.
Besides their involvement in football, the Kabchi family also holds shares in the hardware chain Ferrehierro.
